Sourcebooks and Bookshop Santa Cruz present a JOYFUL community event celebrating the publication of The Joy Plan by local author, Mindfulness teacher, and blogger Kaia Roman.
The Joy Plan Book Release Party will be held at the stunning Museum of Art and History in Downtown Santa Cruz, California on Friday, July 14, 7-9 pm.
Publisher’s Weekly calls The Joy Plan “an energized and informative plan for transforming your life.”
In this “memoir with benefits,” Kaia shares how she went from joyless and anxious to grateful and optimistic. Using scientific research on hormones, neurotransmitters, and mindfulness, along with the daily dedication to creating a more joyful existence, Kaia’s insights help readers move past temporary happiness and succeed in creating joy that lasts.

UPDATE FROM KAIA: The event was a massive success! I wanted The Joy Plan to have a joyful party to launch it into the world and boy did it ever!!! There was face painting with Brenda’s face painting, photo booth fun with Jesse Gabriel Photography, lots of games and crafts, local wine tasting with Bargetto Winery, Blue Summit rocked the house, dancing and hula hoops with more than 200 people in the gorgeous Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History.
And Bookshop Santa Cruz SOLD OUT of books which they told me never happens! It was a night I will never forget! I love that we had people from all ages and many who traveled long distances to be there.
Thank you to Sourcebooks and my dear friends and family members who pulled off an incredible event. If you missed it in person or on Facebook Live, here’s a short video of part of my talk (with help from several of my Mindfulness students at Santa Cruz Children’s School) where I explain some simple things about the brain that can help us all experience more joy.
